This is probably the first year since I started getting an allowance that I haven't bought any music. This might be because of all the traveling, the silly amounts of music we have stored on several hard drives, and because of satellite radio.
We listened to satellite radio a lot this year driving around and across the US. It made it easier to listen to something else without searching for, agreeing on, and putting in a new CD (or shuffling through the iPods). We can simply switch to another song. I listen to island music when it's grey and cold out here, something I might not otherwise pick if I had to shuffle through my own music.
We also discovered the comedy stations. They were such a great distraction on long driving days. On our last cross-country drive, we reserved the comedy stations for the end of the day when we were so tired of driving, we needed something distracting. I just wish the Daily Show were on satellite radio.
